We offer a variety of services at Brykerwood. Below are some of the services we have been practicing for over 30 years. Feel confident in bringing your pet to the Best Vet in Austin!

Preventative Medicine
We strongly believe the best way to treat medical problems is to catch them early or prevent problems all together. The cornerstone of this approach is the yearly physical. In addition to a complete physical exam, we will cover everything from teeth to food, weight, heartworm and flea prevention, exercise, and behavior. Together we will decide which vaccines will be given and if any premptive bloodwork is desired. This starts in kitten and puppyhood and becomes pivital as your pet ages. Your animal’s whole health is important to us, and the annual is where we forge our relationship with you and your animal.

Internal Medicine
When a medical problem or emergency arrises with your pet, we are there for you every step of the way. In house bloodwork machines, digital X ray, EKG, cytology are all available tools to aid in our diagnosis. The most important ingredient is your history of the problem, our physical exam, and our communication with you. If your pet requires hospitalization, they will be vigilantly monitored by our excellent technical staff and doctors. We understand the time restraints of life, and drop offs are always welcome. We just stay in touch over the phone. If a medical case advances towards referral to a specialist, we will help you with our close relationships with many of this town’s best internists, surgeons, oncologists, dermatologists, and ophthalmologists.

Surgery
Our doctors are skilled at many surgical procedures. From routine spays and neuters, to mass removals, to complicated soft tissue and orthopedic procedures, we provide experienced trusted care. Common procedures include: spays, neuters, spleen removal, bladder surgery, intestinal foreign body removal, fracture repair, declawing, and tumor removal. While your animal is under anesthesia, they are monitored closely with ECG, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry, just as you would be. Pets recover on heated pads, watched and reassured by a surgery technician and your doctor will call when your baby is fully awake.

Teeth are critical part of a pets overall health. We strongly recommend good dental health because it impacts many other organ systems; heart, liver, and kidney, especially in our aging pets. We understand reservations about anesthesia, and will work closely with you, looking at all your pets health parameters to make those decisions. If your pet requires a dental cleaning or extractions, we use ultrasonographic subgingival cleaning, digital dental x rays, nerve blocks, and excellent pain management to assure they have great care. These surgical procedures are monitored closely as described above. Good teeth equal good lives.

In addition to our other services, we also offer special services.
Some of these services include:
Laser Therapy
Mass Freezing
Ultrasonography in Clinic by Board Certified Radiologists
